We have been saying nightly prayers with Evan for quite some time now. At first he just screamed the whole time, then laughed, then would repeat a word or two here and there. Every night we ask him if he wants to say the prayer. Sometimes he will say Heavenly Father and will insert a word here and there, especially if we are saying thanks for our friends. He never misses an opportunity to mention his friends Garrett, Josh and Brigham.
Well, last night we asked him if he wanted to say the prayer and he just started right in! He said, "Heavenly Father, jabber, jabber, jabber, Grandma's house, jabber, jabber, jabber, Amen!" :) Gary and I were both completely surprised and so proud of our amazing boy! It's a great feeling to know he is learning the important things from us.
I think kids "get" way more than we could ever understand. I am proud of you and Gary and what great parents you are. It would be easier to just have your own prayers when they scream and don't seem to be paying attention, but because you kept it up he has learned a very valuable life skill.
ReplyDeleteThat is so precious, especially since he mentioned Grandma's house--heart-melting time. Gary and Kristina, you are wonderful parents, and I'm grateful that my dear little grandson has you both. Love, Mom
