Mommy, Can You Please Be Quiet...
I was just going on and on to Gary about how I want a Kindle and how I could use my Christmas and maybe birthday money to get one. Apparently I was disrupting Evan's movie because he said, Mommy, can you please be quiet, Woodie (he is watching Toy Story 3) is on the phone! Gary said, Evan that was funny and Evan said, yes it was! :) Gary probably wanted to tell me to be quiet too!!!

We LOVE Christmas Decorating
Evan set up the Little People Nativity set and Drummer Boy set. Since he set it up, he will only keep a couple peices on the shelf. He has been playing with them instead. I've given up trying to keep the "organized".
It's hard for someone like me to let a 4 year old place ornaments on the tree, but I did it! As you can see, all the ornaments Evan placed are in a pretty straight line, go figure. I'll just add this to the set of line pictures I have of all the things he has lined up. I've resisted the urge to move these ornaments...for the most part.
Evan kept this ornament hooked on his wrist the entire time we set up the tree and decorated. It was only with coercion that we got him to place it on the tree. :)
It's kind of difficult to get a good picture of the tree. I'm not sure why, maybe the lights. So, I don't think the tree looks that great in this picture, but I love how it looks in person. Maybe I'll try taking a picture with the house lights off and see how that works.

Jello Song
Sometime during the night Evan crawled in bed with us. He does this every once in awhile and it doesn't really bother me. :) I think it was around 2 or 3 in the morning. As we were laying there he said really quietly, let's sing the jello song and then he started singing...the big red letter stands for the jello family, the big red letter stands for the jello family, there's jello, yum, yum, yum, jello pudding, yum, yum, yum, there's taaaaaapioca. :) It was so cute!
Snow Boy
It snowed some this morning and Evan came in and said he wanted to go outside. I told him he needed to get out of his pjs and get dressed before he could go out. He came back a few minutes later and said he was ready to go out. I looked at him and he had taken off his pjs...but all he had on were his undies and crocs. I guess putting on your crocs is "getting dressed". :)
Yesterday when I got Evan up to show him it snowed, he said, ooooo yummy snow, I'll put my shoes on and walk in it. Not sure what yummy has to do with walking, but I'm glad he was excited. Maybe that's why today he thought he only needed shoes.

4 Year Old Studio Photos
Evan and I went to Spokane today and had his 4 year old pictures taken at Tot Shots Photo Studio http://www.totshotsphoto.com/. We had SO MUCH FUN!!! It was just the photographer and us and she took LOTS of time to get Evan to warm up to her. She got some great pictures and I'm really glad we went. These are my favorite 9 photos. I love all kinds of candid shots, but I really do love studio shots too. We even did some photos with the orange background, since that is Evan's favorite color. Probably won't print any of those to frame, but they will make awesome scrapbook pages.

Evan's 4th Birthday Virtual Party
Tonight we had a virtual birthday party with Grandma and Grandpa Thompson. Evan got some books, clothes and some toys too. I'm so grateful for the technology of webcams. It makes it so much easier to include family that lives far from us.

Not Sure
I'm not sure what to do with the blog! I'm not sure exactly why I thought it was a good idea to have a "text" blog and a "photo/video" blog...Now I'm really wishing it was just one blog. I get tired of writing on one and posting photos on the other!!! But, I'm not sure what to do about that. I guess I could just start posting the pictures here on this blog and let the other one be an archive. I wish there was some way to combine them, but I'm pretty sure that isn't possible. Well, I guess I'll have to think about tit. For now, just keep checking both! :)

2 Dougs...
Tonight when we had prayer Evan said we are grateful Grandma, Sherry and Doug came over. Then after prayer he said, there are two Dougs...Doug Sherry and Doug Marks! :)

Preschool!
How can it possibly be that Evan is old enough to go to preschool? He has been excited about going, so hopefully when I pick him up later, he'll still be excited. It was pretty hard to just drop him off with someone I've only met a few times, but I guess this is the beginning of a lot of drop offs. :)
Evan wanted to wear orange this morning of course! His classroom door is orange too, so he was excited about that.
Evan picked out his own backpack. I think it's so funny how huge it is on him!

Cookies
A month or so ago at nap time, Evan told me he wanted his cookies. I told him he can't have cookies in bed and that maybe he could have one when he woke up. He got pretty upset and kept saying, I want my cookies, I want my cookies. I finally just left the room with him screaming. A few minutes later I realized it was really quiet, so I went to check on him. He had gotten out of bed and put ALL his stuffed animals in bed with him. I started putting some of them back and he again started in on the I want my cookies. For some reason, he was calling the stuffed animals cookies...Who knows why! The this last weekend, we went to the Bird Aviation and Invention Museum and Gary bought Evan a little plastic bi-plane. He is now calling that his cookie. We still can't figure out why he is doing this, but it sure is funny.
The fact is, Evan likes to call all kinds of things by different names. Like today, all cars and trucks are fire trucks. Yesterday all cars and trucks were tractors. :)

Sorry Though & Toy Story
Lately when we ask Evan to do something that he doesn't want to, he replies by saying he doesn't want to, followed by, "but sorry though." I guess that makes it okay in his mind.
Evan is WAY into Toy Story these days. It's pretty funny because he keeps insisting that his name is Woody. This weekend he added that Gary is Buzz Lightyear and I am Mommy Buzz Lightyear. Today he told me that his name is Woody Brian Thompson. :) LOL

Honey
Evan is still calling us honey, which I think is just funny since we have never called him that. However, the other day Gary or I called him honey back and he said he's not honey, he's hon. :)

I Love You
Yesterday we were sitting in church and Evan leaned over and said, can I give you a kiss? Well what's a mom to say but of course! So he gave me a kiss on the cheek and then said, I love you. He did this twice. Oh, what a precious boy! I'm so grateful to be his mom!!!
I'm grateful to his biological mom and for the choice she made to place him with us. I always think of her on Mother's day, but even more so yesterday because a young man gave a talk in church that brought her to my mind. He was talking about mother's hands and how they are there right from the start. He said he was grateful for the hands that signed the paper that allowed him to be placed in the hands of another mother. What a wonderful way to look at adoption! I wish more people understood what really goes into the adoption process and how spiritual it really is. In my mind, there really isn't a greater gift someone could give or receive. So, I will keep praying that Evan's biological mom will know how grateful we are and how much she means to us, even though we never got to tell her so in person.

Scared Boogers
Tonight when we knelt down for prayer, Evan had a runny nose. Here is the conversation that ensued.
Evan - I need a kleenex.
Gary - We'll get one after prayer.
Evan, after sniffing really loud - I scared the booger away.
All - laughing hysterically, thus encouraging more statements like the above.
Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

Mobile Blog
So, I figured out you can send posts to your blog from a cell phone. :) I'm excited about this because it seems like quite often Evan comes up with his funniest things when we are in the car or at the store. I always forget what it was when I go to write it later! Now I can just use my phone to post. Of course I can only use 160 characters, but that's okay. So, I'll probably be posting more now. :)
pbskids dot Oregon
"Mom there are great dancing songs on pbskids dot oregon." Pretty sure he meant pbskids.org! :)

Some Funnies
Last night Gary and I were watching TV and Evan said, "you better turn of the TV or else you won't be able to watch TV." I could just hear myself, you better pick up those toys or you won't be able to watch Dinosaur Train. Then when we didn't turn it off, he said, "uh oh", which is exactly what we say when he isn't listening to us. :)
This morning his response to every request I have made is, "that's not the way we talk."
Just now he came up to me and said, "Mom, you're not bossy." I said, "are you bossy?" His reply, "yes, I'm bossy." I think he was trying to tell me, you're not the boss of me, but just combined it into bossy, because then he told me I wasn't the boss of Garrett, his friend. :)
What a funny, funny boy!

Large Chocolate Milk Please
The other day Evan and I were out running errands. Our first stop was the bank. When we pulled up to the window he said, "I'll have a large chocolate milk please." Quickly followed by, "I mean a sucker." :) Sorry to say this is an indication of how much we use the drive-thru!

So Grown Up
Evan was assigned to give the scripture in primary today. I ended up reading most of it, but he did help with the last couple sentences and the reference. I think he thought it was pretty cool to talk through the microphone. He's just getting so grown up!
Yesterday Evan went in the bathroom and went to the potty by himself twice! It was fun to see how excited he was as we celebrated his success with him. It's kind of funny because he won't tell us when he needs to go, so we were very surprised that he just went in there himself. We still have a way to go though, because no luck today. :)

Evan's Latest Funnies
Happy New Year - Hal Lee Noon Nyear.
For some reason Evan has latched on to the word buttocks and just won't let it go! We try to not laugh or respond to it, but he still keeps at it. Sunday morning he crawled into bed with us and started singing, Jingle buttocks, jingle buttocks.... Later at church when he started singing Jingle Bells, I was preparing myself to be mortified at him singing jingle buttocks again. Luckily he didn't!
Last night Evan was at the dining room table and we heard him talking to everything that was there, hi chex, how are you, hi lightening, how ya doing... What a funny boy!
Evan is still calling me honey every now and again. Do you want this car honey? What's wrong honey? It's okay honey. :)
If you ask Evan to do something again, he'll say, I just really did, I just really did. I guess already sounds like really.

A New Year!!!
Well, here it is 2010 and I keep thinking about all the pictures I never posted from Evan's birthday through Christmas, so I'm going to do that today. Also, I've been checking out all our friends blogs and I'm inspired by them being on the ball! It seems like once you get behind, it's harder and harder to sit down and catch up. I probably won't post as many pictures as I would have if I was caught up, but I'll at least give a sampling.
