Yesterday we were sitting in church and Evan leaned over and said, can I give you a kiss? Well what's a mom to say but of course! So he gave me a kiss on the cheek and then said, I love you. He did this twice. Oh, what a precious boy! I'm so grateful to be his mom!!!
I'm grateful to his biological mom and for the choice she made to place him with us. I always think of her on Mother's day, but even more so yesterday because a young man gave a talk in church that brought her to my mind. He was talking about mother's hands and how they are there right from the start. He said he was grateful for the hands that signed the paper that allowed him to be placed in the hands of another mother. What a wonderful way to look at adoption! I wish more people understood what really goes into the adoption process and how spiritual it really is. In my mind, there really isn't a greater gift someone could give or receive. So, I will keep praying that Evan's biological mom will know how grateful we are and how much she means to us, even though we never got to tell her so in person.
